The William Jobling Memorial Chalk Art Festival
An annual event hosted by the Clarence Hollow Farmers' Market, and sponsored by the Clarence Arts & Crafts Society, to help promote arts in the Clarence Hollow district. Each year, artists from the Buffalo/Niagara area grace our sidewalks with their amazing artwork - following a theme established by the Market Committee. Particpants include professional and amateur artists of all ages! This is a judged event, with prizes awarded to the top contestants in each category - Adult (18 and over), Junior I (15-17) and Junior II (11-14). Our judging panel consists of a representative from our sponsor, a local artist and a "celebrity" judge from our community. And new this year - the People's Choice Award - a way for our community to pick their favorites, and give back to the Market to help ensure that activities like this continue in the future!
We are excited to have our resident friend and artist Jeff Perdziak on hand for this event! He will be walking through and offering mentoring to our younger budding artists, or artists of any age, who would like to learn a new technique or get advice on chalking. Jeff was our event winner last year, and has much to offer budding artists. He will also be displaying some of his artwork for public viewing!
In conjunction with the main event, the Lil Sprouts tent also hosts a special area for our smaller artists (aged 2-10), along with face painting and craft activities!
William (Bill) Jobling was a gifted artist from the Clarence Hollow area, who annually participated both with the Market, as a vendor, and in our annual Chalk Art Festival. He was a friend and inspiration to many, and we keep his memory close to our Market Family hearts by dedicating this event to him!

2012 Event Update
What a great event day we had this year! Despite the record breaking temperatures, we had over a dozen chalkers making beautiful artwork along our Main Street location. Below are the award winners of our 2012 event - and their artwork. There is also a photo gallery of all of our chalker's artwork and other specialty vendors at the market for this event!
We thank our sponsor - Clarence Arts and Crafts Society, and a special thanks to Hyatt's, for their donation of a gift card! Thank you also to anyone who donated to our event fundraiser- the Peoples' Choice Award! Without all of this support we would not be able to bring these type of events to the Market each season. And finally, a big thank you to our Chalk Art participants, and all of our Market patrons - we hope you enjoyed the event! See you in 2013!
